The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

I started reading this book almost two weeks ago, and it has helped me. I have learned not to be so focused on the product i.e. the clean house, the well-behaved children, the organized life, but rather to be focused more on my life and what I believe. I have to look into my own mirror, not society's mirror, and I have to be o.k. with what I see. I am practicing being "proactive" and choosing my responses more often; even when I don't feel happy, I'm choosing happiness. I like the results so far. I am also learning that "time management" is more about me and less about time, which is so helpful for someone like me who is very demanding of myself and others.

Another important lesson that I have learned from my reading of this particular book is that it is ineffective to blame others for their weaknesses and effective only to focus on what I can do to improve the relationships of my life. I can't say when this person no longer does x, then I will do y. I have to do y now because of my principles and hope others will follow my lead.

I find the book valid and helpful, even though it is written like a psychology textbook. Franklin is looking forward to reading it next.

When my sister recommended this book, I went to buy it at a used bookstore. I found $40 inside. I like the book already!! (I hope to soon appreciate the book for its finer qualities.)
